Fast-rising Afrobeats sensation, Benkletus is steadily carving a niche for himself in Nigeria’s highly competitive music industry as his latest single, Akpakopiano, continues to gain momentum among music lovers across the country and beyond.
The singer, songwriter, and producer, whose real name is Cletus Ifo-ulimre Omurukpa, has become one of the emerging names generating excitement in the Afrobeats space.
In an exclusive chat, Benkletus revealed that Akpakopiano was inspired by the resilient spirit, vibrant culture, and unmistakable party lifestyle of Nigerians. According to him, “the idea for the song came during a creative studio session where I experimented with a fusion of Afrobeat rhythms and Amapiano inspired melodies. The result was a high energy record designed to bring joy, inspire celebration, and showcase the beauty of African sounds to a global audience.”
Explaining the meaning behind the song’s unique title, the artist described Akpakopiano as more than just a catchy phrase. He noted that it symbolizes rhythm, excitement, and the ability to find happiness despite life’s challenges. Through the song, Benkletus aims to encourage listeners to embrace positivity, celebrate their heritage, and create memorable moments through music and dance.
The talented entertainer also disclosed that he personally handled much of the production process, from beat creation to sound engineering, reflecting his passion for creating authentic music. He credited collaborator Terry Ginger for contributing to the creative magic behind the project, while emphasizing that the song and its visuals were intentionally crafted to project the rich culture, energy, and lifestyle that define contemporary Nigeria.
