As part of efforts to support vulnerable members of society, the Sola Osolana Foundation has distributed food items and start-up funds to widows and young entrepreneurs in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The outreach programme, held at the Atobaje area of Agege, was aimed at providing relief and economic support to less privileged residents within the community.

Speaking during the event, founder of the foundation and businessman, Otunba Sola Osolana, said the initiative formed part of activities marking his birthday celebration and reflected his commitment to giving back to society.

According to him, the foundation has consistently undertaken various humanitarian and empowerment programmes targeted at improving the lives of residents, particularly youths, women and students.

“This is not the first time the Sola Osolana Foundation is giving back to society. Over the years, we have distributed free JAMB and GCE forms to students, empowered youths and women, and provided cash support to petty traders,” he said.

Osolana noted that birthdays should go beyond celebrations and serve as opportunities to impact the lives of others, especially vulnerable groups.

“To me, birthdays should not be about parties and merriment alone. They should be about reaching out to widows, widowers and other less privileged members of society, particularly those in Agege and Orile-Agege,” he added.

He also urged affluent Nigerians to support efforts aimed at reducing poverty, stressing that charitable interventions and individual commitments could help improve living conditions for many citizens.

According to him, poverty can be tackled more effectively when successful individuals deliberately assist others in achieving economic stability and self-reliance.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the foundation for the gesture.

One of them, Hajiya Bamu Adewole, thanked the foundation for remembering widows through the distribution of food items and cash assistance.

Similarly, a start-up entrepreneur, Tunde Shobowale, commended the foundation for selecting him as one of the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme.

The event attracted politicians, business leaders, community stakeholders and family members who gathered to celebrate with the philanthropist and support the initiative.
