Seal Films Africa has announced the launch of the BEYOND THE HIGH: Killer Cure Campus Tour, a nationwide youth engagement movement set to commence at Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) on June 26th, 2026 – the United Nations’ International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The tour, which is expected to reach over 50,000 students across 20 to 25 campuses nationwide, represents a significant departure from traditional awareness campaigns that have often failed to connect with young audiences. According to a 2025 study published on ResearchGate, young people frequently dismiss conventional lectures and seminars, responding instead to entertainment, culture, storytelling, and emotion – a gap the BEYOND THE HIGH initiative seeks to bridge.
Nigeria’s drug abuse prevalence rate currently stands at 14.4 percent, nearly three times the global average, with approximately 40 percent of Nigerians between the ages of 15 and 35 deeply involved in substance abuse, according to recent reports from the European External Action Service and The Guardian Nigeria. The tour aims to address this alarming statistic through an immersive campus experience that blends film, music, live performances, and open dialogue.
A Film at the Heart of the Movement
The centerpiece of the tour is “Killer Cure,” an award-winning feature film that dramatizes the dangers of drug abuse and the greed that fuels its proliferation. The movie, which has received official support from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), is designed to provoke reflection and conversation rather than deliver a sermon.
The YABATECH event, scheduled to hold at College Hall beginning at 3:00 PM, will feature an array of activities intended to engage students from the moment they arrive. Attendees can expect a high-energy “Vibe Zone” with music, interactive games, and a branded photo wall, followed by live performances from music and comedy acts. The screening of “Killer Cure” will serve as the emotional centerpiece, after which a moderated “Real Talk” session will bring together filmmakers, experts, and student voices for an open, conversational discussion.
Special guests confirmed for the event include award-winning actor Jude Orhorha, a cast member of “Killer Cure”; Scarlet Gomez, known for her role in Showmax’s “Wura”; and David Ezekiel, who starred in the Netflix production “Blood Vessel.”
A Structured Approach to Engagement
The BEYOND THE HIGH tour is designed around an 11-segment experience flow that progresses from entertainment to reflection and finally to action. Following the film screening, a moment of silence allows the audience to absorb the emotional impact before transitioning into the “Real Talk” session. A talent showcase, winner announcements, and a closing call to action – “Say No to Drug” – round out the program, with networking and content capture continuing during the “After Vibe” session.
According to the project brief, the tour will operate in three phases. The pilot campus – YABATECH – kicks off the movement in June, followed by Phase 2 events at major universities with national influence, including the University of Lagos (scheduled for June 23rd), the University of Ibadan, Obafemi Awolowo University, the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Ahmadu Bello University, and the University of Abuja. Phase 3 will extend to institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, covering the North West, North East, North Central, South West, South East, and South South.
Student Ambassadors and Peer Advocacy
A key component of the initiative is its youth-centred engagement model. Each campus will deploy 10 student ambassadors responsible for pre-event promotion, student mobilisation, and social media engagement. The tour also encourages peer-to-peer advocacy, positioning students as active participants rather than passive attendees.
Campus organisations and student union governments have been identified as secondary targets, with polytechnic and college of education students also included in the outreach strategy.
Admission and Registration
Admission to the YABATECH event is free. Students are encouraged to register in advance via the registration link: bit.ly/BTHsignup. Interested participants can also follow @sealfilms_africa and @sealfilmsafrica on social media for updates on the tour schedule.
The campaign will be amplified through digital channels, with video and photography coverage, student interviews, testimonials, and post-event digital distribution extending its reach beyond the campuses visited.
Organisers describe the initiative as a movement that speaks to the reality of young Nigerians, rather than a one-off event. The tour has already secured partnerships with organisations including Talent Sphere Africa and Stravigo, and remains open to institutional partners seeking direct engagement with the youth market while contributing to a positive social impact initiative.
Speaking on the project’s ambitions, the organisers noted that “this is not just an event – it is a movement that speaks to the reality of young Nigerians. Let’s build something that matters. Let’s go Beyond The High.”
