Dr Obah Edom Tawo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat, has thanked party faithful and constituents after winning the party’s primary election.

In a statement dated June 12, 2026, and addressed to residents of Obubra and Etung, chapter and ward chairmen, community leaders and supporters, Dr. Tawo described the primary outcome as a clear demonstration of public confidence in his vision for “effective and inclusive representation.”

He said the mandate conferred on him was “not merely a political triumph but a solemn responsibility that carries enormous expectations from the people.”

According to Dr. Tawo, the result reflects the collective aspiration for leadership grounded in “resilience, justice, and representation.”

“The people have spoken. In that clarity, I have come to understand something that transcends the moment: you have not simply voted for a candidate.

” You have voted for three principles that form the foundation of who we are and what we stand for as a people: resilience, justice, and representation,” he said.

He added that these principles are “not mere political catchphrases but values deeply rooted in the daily experiences and struggles of the people of Obubra and Etung.”

Dr. Tawo commended party leaders, grassroots mobilisers, community stakeholders and supporters for their efforts during the primary, describing their commitment as the driving force behind the victory.

He said the win “belongs to every resident of the federal constituency” and called it a renewed summons to collective action for a brighter future.

The NDC flagbearer pledged to focus on policies and initiatives to improve welfare, livelihoods and economic prospects across the constituency if elected to the National Assembly.

He assured constituents that their voices would “remain at the centre of his legislative agenda,” stressing that representation must yield tangible benefits and development for communities in Obubra and Etung.

Dr. Tawo further described the primary victory as the start of a broader movement to secure quality representation, attract development opportunities and protect the constituency’s interests at the federal level.

He concluded by thanking the people for their trust and promising to “uphold the mandate with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to putting the needs and future of Obubra and Etung first.”
