A leading senatorial aspirants in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Osunde Douglas Eseosa, has called on his supporters to remain calm and united as they await a decision from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

In a statement issued on Thursday, Osunde urged his supporters to maintain a peaceful and thoughtful disposition, stressing that their collective strength lies in unity and a shared commitment to the party’s objectives.

“As we await the National Working Committee’s decision for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), I urge all my supporters to remain calm and united. Our strength lies in a thoughtful, unified response that always prioritizes our shared objectives,” he said.

The legal practitioner and political leader also reflected on Nigeria’s broader governance challenges, arguing that many of the country’s persistent problems would continue to worsen unless there is a significant shift in the nation’s collective consciousness.

According to him, Nigerians must reach a point of shared understanding and determination where the unsustainability of the current situation becomes evident to all.

He further advocated a departure from traditional leadership structures, saying that decentralizing authority and empowering teams would encourage innovation, strengthen problem-solving, and foster sustainable progress.

“Our traditional leadership structures are limiting our potential. By decentralizing authority and empowering teams, we can unleash innovation and drive more effective problem-solving,” he stated.

Osunde maintained that Nigeria’s future prosperity and stability depend on the active participation and collective resolve of its citizens, noting that meaningful national transformation cannot be driven by a few individuals alone.

He called for what he described as a “national awakening,” urging Nigerians to embrace integrity, innovation, accountability, and active civic engagement in pursuit of a better society.

The NDC stalwart also emphasized the need for ethical conduct and shared responsibility, describing national renewal as the true “price of redemption” required to build a nation founded on justice, equity, and common purpose.

“It is only when we, as a unified front, definitively declare that enough is truly enough, committing wholeheartedly to fundamental change, that we can begin to dismantle these entrenched issues and pave the way for a different future,” he said.

He warned that without such a decisive turning point, the country’s challenges would continue to grow in complexity and consequence.
