Niger secures EUR 250m boost for economic recovery with NAB consulting’s expert guidance

Niamey, June 2026 – The Republic of Niger has successfully secured a EUR 250 million structured finance facility, co-arranged by Coris Bank Niger and provided by Afreximbank, with NAB Consulting steering the transaction from concept to completion.

The facility, granted through the Ministry of Economy and Finance, forms a cornerstone of Niger’s economic recovery programme, fueling strategic initiatives across agriculture, energy, healthcare, infrastructure, and SMEs. This funding aims to bolster the nation’s economic resilience while directly supporting projects aligned with Niger’s development priorities.

“This EUR 250 million facility is a significant milestone, reflecting Niger’s ability to partner with credible financial institutions to advance its strategic development objectives,” said Dr Maman Laouali Abdou Rafa, Minister of Economy and Finance.

NAB Consulting played a pivotal role in designing and executing the transaction, coordinating stakeholders, refining the financing structure, and guiding negotiations that led to Afreximbank’s approval. The facility is backed by eligible export revenue flows, enhancing its credit quality, strengthening bankability, and providing clear repayment visibility for the lender.

“This transaction underscores how structured finance can align sovereign funding needs with international financial risk expectations,” explained Dr Ismaila Kamara, President of NAB Consulting.

The completion of this facility also highlights the growing importance of structured finance for African sovereigns seeking substantial resources for priority development programmes, emphasizing credible repayment sources, robust security mechanisms, disciplined execution, and stakeholder coordination.

Over the past three years, NAB Consulting has successfully originated or arranged 29 transactions across Africa, valued at approximately EUR 2.93 billion, spanning markets such as Niger, Guinea, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Burundi, Mauritania, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone. Its expertise covers trade finance, term loans, credit lines, receivables discounting, guarantees, swaps, and infrastructure-linked financings, demonstrating a strong track record in both sovereign and corporate advisory.

Notable examples include:
TECMON Energy, Burkina Faso – Financing for importation of spare parts under an electricity maintenance contract.
Trade Oil, Côte d’Ivoire – Petroleum import financing through guarantees and letters of credit.
GUITER SA, Guinea – Receivables discounting for road construction projects.
Bank of the Republic of Burundi – Swap transaction to reinforce local-currency liquidity.
“By designing a financial structure backed by export revenue flows, we strengthened the bankability of this transaction, enabling Niger to mobilise EUR 250 million for critical development projects,” said Dr Kamara.
