The people of Adumu-Ama Community in Kula Kingdom have paid a courtesy visit to the Amanyanabo of the Source, Elem Kalabari, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, Dabaye Amakiri I, expressing gratitude for his pivotal role in the coronation of their king and seeking continued collaboration for peace and development.

The visit, held at the Amanyanabo’s residence in Degema, was led by the newly crowned monarch, HRH (Engr.) Barlow Harrison Adokiye, Ogoye Kala-Amafia IX, alongside the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Kula Kingdom, HRH King Sir (Dr.) Kroma Amabibi Eleki, JP, Sara XIV, chiefs, community leaders, women, and youth groups.

King Harrison Adokiye commended Dokubo-Asari for his fatherly guidance, moral support, and influence which he said were instrumental to his ascension to the ancestral throne in 2024. He pledged to continually seek the Amanyanabo’s counsel in administering the community, expressing confidence that such collaboration would foster peace, unity, and sustainable progress in Adumu-Ama and the broader Kula Kingdom.

The Amanyanabo of Kula, HRH King Sir Eleki, also expressed gratitude to Dokubo-Asari for his goodwill and steadfast support toward the people of Kula, noting that the kingdom identifies deeply with Elem Kalabari as the ancestral cradle of the Kalabari people. He described the visit as an opportunity to strengthen ties between both kingdoms for mutual progress.

In his response, Dokubo-Asari decried what he described as the age-long neglect, deprivation, and underdevelopment of the oil-rich Kula Kingdom in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State by successive governments, despite the area’s significant contributions to the federation account. He warned that the situation poses serious threats to the economic survival and social existence of the people.

The Amanyanabo also identified persistent internal disunity, chieftaincy disputes, and litigation among Kula people as factors compounding the kingdom’s underdevelopment. He urged all warring factions to embrace peace.

“It is time for all warring factions and well-meaning people of Kula to engage in introspection, put an end to all internal wranglings, and embrace peace for the progress and posterity of Kula Kingdom,” he stated.

The President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, an indigene of Kula Kingdom, was among members of the delegation.
