Muyiwa Lawrence shines as Caregivers.ng joins American association

Caregivers.ng, a Nigerian caregiver training and support organisation, has been admitted as a member of the American Caregiver Association (ACA), an international professional body focused on caregiving education, standards and professional development. The membership places the organisation within a network of caregiving professionals and institutions and is expected to provide access to training resources, industry standards and professional development opportunities.

Founded by Muyiwa Lawrence, Caregivers.ng provides training programmes in areas including elderly care support, patient care and hygiene, first aid and CPR, massage therapy, and healthcare support services. The organisation says it has trained hundreds of individuals seeking careers in the caregiving sector. Speaking on the development, Lawrence described the membership as an opportunity to align the organisation’s activities with internationally recognised caregiving practices.

“This achievement reflects our dedication to building a professional caregiving culture in Nigeria. Becoming part of the American Caregiver Association provides us with greater opportunities to align with global standards while continuing to empower individuals through quality training and support,” he said.

Beyond training, the organisation has also undertaken community-based initiatives. Among them is the Patient Free Ride Initiative, which provides transportation support for elderly and discharged patients travelling from hospitals to their homes in Lagos. According to Caregivers.ng the initiative was introduced to assist vulnerable individuals and families facing mobility and transportation challenges following hospital treatment.

Lawrence said the programme reflects the organisation’s view that caregiving extends beyond formal training and includes practical support for those in need. Industry stakeholders note that demand for professional caregiving services has continued to grow in Nigeria, driven by demographic changes and increasing healthcare needs. As a result, caregiver training and certification programmes have attracted greater attention in recent years.

The ACA membership comes as Caregivers.ng continues to expand its training activities and partnerships within the healthcare support sector. In addition to his role at Caregivers.ng, Lawrence is also the Chief Executive Officer of Mattress.ng, an online mattress retail platform. Caregivers.ng describes its mission as promoting professional caregiving standards while providing skills development opportunities for individuals interested in healthcare support services.
