The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has set a target of ₦20 billion monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) as ongoing fiscal reforms continue to boost collections and strengthen taxpayer confidence in the state.
The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Comrade Jerry Adams, disclosed this while receiving a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which paid him a courtesy visit and conferred on him the title of Grand Patron.
Adams said the state’s monthly IGR has grown significantly from an average of ₦4 billion in 2023 to about ₦9 billion at present, attributing the increase to reforms in tax administration, expansion of the tax base, and improved public trust in government.
He noted that residents are increasingly willing to meet their tax obligations due to visible government investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare programmes across Kaduna State.
According to him, the administration of Governor Uba Sani remains committed to ensuring that revenue generated is channelled into projects that directly improve citizens’ welfare.
Adams added that KADIRS would continue to implement taxpayer-friendly policies aimed at encouraging voluntary compliance while eliminating multiple taxation and reducing burdens on businesses and individuals.
“Revenue generation should not be seen as a burden on citizens but as a shared responsibility that enables government to provide critical services and drive sustainable development,” he said.
He expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him by the association, describing it as recognition of the contributions of non-indigenes to the socio-economic development of Kaduna State.
The KADIRS boss reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive governance, stressing that all residents, regardless of ethnic or religious background, have a role to play in the state’s development.
Earlier, the Co-Convener of the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, Mr. Johnny Nwankwere, presented Adams with a letter of confirmation and the association’s flag, formally announcing his appointment as Grand Patron.
Nwankwere described Adams as a reform-driven administrator whose leadership has significantly improved tax administration in the state.
He commended KADIRS for reducing incidents of multiple taxation and tax-related harassment, noting that the reforms have improved trust between taxpayers and government.
The association also pledged support for the state’s revenue drive through public enlightenment campaigns and grassroots mobilisation.
Leading the delegation, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Support Groups, Abdulsamad Chima Amadi, emphasised the importance of collaboration between government agencies and community organisations in achieving development objectives.
Members of the delegation also commended Governor Uba Sani for ongoing development projects across the state, including vocational and skills acquisition centres in Soba, Rigachikun and Samaru Kataf.
They said the centres would enhance youth empowerment, vocational training and economic self-reliance, while pledging continued support for the administration’s policies and programmes.
The visit highlighted growing collaboration between government institutions and community stakeholders in promoting revenue generation, citizen participation and inclusive development in Kaduna State.
