The Chief Executive Officer of Kaizen Health Pharmacy, Lagos, Roli Okoregbo, has emphasized the importance of nurturing creativity in children from an early age, noting that intentional and structured engagement can help uncover and develop their talents.

She made this known in Lagos during the organisation’s Children’s Day celebration , an event designed to combine entertainment, learning, and creative expression for children.

Okoregbo explained that the initiative was deliberately structured to go beyond conventional celebrations that focus mainly on fun, with greater emphasis on talent discovery, confidence-building, and self-expression.

She noted that the programme reflects a consistent effort to expose children to different learning experiences through annual themed activities.

According to her, last year’s edition focused on science, where children participated in hands-on activities during a science fair, while this year’s edition centered on painting to encourage artistic exploration.

She also acknowledged that rainfall affected attendance and caused some delays; however, the event still commenced with team-based games and bonding activities designed to help children interact, make new friends, and build confidence. These were followed by warm-up games aimed at creating excitement and easing the children into the main programme, after which the creative sessions began.

“The event featured a variety of exciting games, with gifts presented to winners of the different activities. However, our Children’s Day celebration was designed to be much more than the conventional gathering where children simply come together to dance, play, and make merry.

We are deeply committed to identifying, nurturing, and showcasing the talents and potentials of children. The primary objective of the event was to encourage creativity and self-expression while ensuring that the children had an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Unlike the typical Children’s Day party, our programme focused on combining fun with learning and creativity. Each year, we introduce a theme that helps children develop new skills and explore different areas of interest. Last year’s edition was a Science Fair, where children were exposed to scientific concepts and hands-on learning experiences. This year’s focus was on painting, providing a platform for children to express themselves artistically and discover their creative abilities.

Despite the rainfall causing some delays and late arrivals, the event commenced with team games and bonding activities. These sessions were designed to help the children interact, make new friends, and build confidence through introductions and collaborative play. We also organized a series of fun games to warm them up and create an energetic atmosphere.

“The first creative activity was a colouring session, which allowed the children to ease into the artistic process. This was followed by the main event, painting on canvas, where participants had the opportunity to showcase their imagination and creativity. Refreshments were served during the programme, ensuring that the children remained energized and comfortable throughout the event.”

She further stated that by combining play, learning, and creativity, the programme created an environment where children could enjoy themselves while developing valuable skills and discovering their unique talents.
