Nigerian carrier ValueJet has expanded its West African network with the introduction of direct flight services between Accra, Ghana and Banjul, The Gambia, further strengthening connectivity across the sub-region.
The service, which operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, extends the airline’s regional footprint beyond its Lagos-Accra route launched earlier this year and provides travellers with a direct link between two key West African destinations.
ValueJet commenced daily Lagos-Accra operations on March 30, linking Murtala Muhammed International Airport with Kotoka International Airport as part of its regional expansion strategy.
The development also creates a more seamless travel corridor for passengers connecting from Lagos through Accra to Banjul, reducing travel complexities on a route that has traditionally relied on multiple connections.
Banjul, often referred to as “The Smiling Coast of Africa”, is one of West Africa’s emerging tourism destinations, known for its Atlantic coastline, cultural heritage and growing appeal among regional and international travellers.
Speaking on the expansion, Managing Director of ValueJet, Omololu Majekodunmi, said the airline’s regional strategy is focused on improving accessibility and strengthening links between West African markets.
“Our services are shaping up as a strategic bridge, linking people, markets and opportunities across West Africa,” he said.
He noted that stronger air connectivity remains critical to facilitating business, tourism and cultural exchange across the region.
The Accra-Banjul route marks another step in ValueJet’s regional growth plans as the airline continues to expand connections across West Africa and improve access between major commercial and cultural hubs.
