KADUNA — The Caleb Danladi Foundation (CDF) has trained 105 primary school teachers in digital literacy and modern teaching methodologies in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State as part of efforts to improve the quality of basic education and prepare teachers for the digital age.

The five-day capacity-building programme, held from May 25 to May 29, 2026, took place at the Computer Centre of Anglican Grammar School, Kwoi.

The training was designed to equip teachers with digital skills and innovative teaching techniques aimed at improving classroom delivery and enhancing learning outcomes among pupils.

The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to promoting technology-driven education and improving educational standards in underserved communities.

It also marks the first phase of a programme aimed at training 1,000 teachers in digital literacy and modern teaching methods before the end of 2026.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the founder of the Foundation, Capt. Caleb Danladi, PhD, stressed the importance of digital literacy in contemporary education.

According to him, the rapidly changing global education environment requires teachers to continually upgrade their skills to remain relevant and effective.

“Teachers are the foundation of every successful education system. Investing in their professional development is critical to preparing Nigerian children for the future. The world is increasingly becoming digital, and our teachers must not be left behind. Digital literacy is no longer optional; it is a necessity,” he said.

Danladi said the Foundation would continue to support technology-driven teaching and learning through the planned nationwide training of 1,000 teachers before the end of the year.

Also speaking, Mrs. Hadiza Yem urged participants to embrace lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

“Education remains one of the most valuable investments anyone can make. As teachers, continuous learning and self-improvement are essential if we are to effectively guide and inspire the next generation,” she said.

The programme received support from community stakeholders, including traditional rulers from the area, who commended the Foundation for bringing the initiative to Jaba Local Government Area.

They described the training as timely and impactful, noting that strengthening teachers’ capacity would contribute significantly to educational development in their communities.

The Principal of Anglican Grammar School, Kwoi, also expressed appreciation to the Foundation for selecting the school as the training venue and for its commitment to improving teaching and learning standards.

The programme was coordinated by Mr. David Tuk and Miss Christiana Tukura, while the lead facilitator, Mr. Jonathan Sunday Dauda, conducted practical sessions on digital literacy, computer applications, internet usage, educational technology and modern teaching methods.

Participants were trained in computer fundamentals, internet applications, digital communication tools, classroom technology integration, lesson planning using digital resources and learner-centred teaching approaches.

Many of the teachers described the programme as timely and beneficial, saying it had improved their confidence in using digital tools and modern instructional techniques in the classroom.

One participant said the training came at a critical time as Nigeria continues to embrace digital transformation across key sectors, including education.

“This training has opened our eyes to new ways of teaching and using technology to engage pupils. As the country moves towards a more digital future, teachers must be equipped to keep pace, and this programme has given us that opportunity,” the participant said.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that the skills acquired during the training would improve teaching practices and learning outcomes across schools in Jaba Local Government Area.

The Foundation said the programme represents another milestone in its efforts to promote quality education, teacher development and digital inclusion in Nigeria.
