ABUJA — The Action Alliance, AA, has nominated its National Chairman, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Omoaje, a politician from Ede, Osun State, was formally presented as the party’s flagbearer during a ceremony in Abuja, where he accepted the nomination and pledged to provide leadership anchored on integrity, fairness and inclusiveness.
In his acceptance speech, Omoaje described his nomination as a moment of gratitude and responsibility, attributing it to divine grace and the support of party members across the country.
“First and foremost, I give all glory, honour and praise to Almighty God. His grace, mercy and unfailing guidance have brought us to this remarkable moment,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to his family for their support and sacrifices throughout what he described as a challenging legal and political journey.
The AA presidential candidate thanked the party leadership and members nationwide for the confidence reposed in him, describing his emergence as a collective victory for loyal members who remained committed to the party’s ideals despite difficult circumstances.
“This nomination is not a personal achievement. It is a victory for every committed member who stood firm and remained faithful to the vision and principles of our great party,” he said.
Omoaje commended journalists and media practitioners for their role in reporting developments surrounding the party’s legal disputes, noting that their commitment to fairness contributed to strengthening democratic processes.
He also praised legal practitioner, Amupitan, for his role during the party’s legal challenges, describing his contributions as significant to the party’s progress.
The AA flagbearer further lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for respecting judicial pronouncements and upholding the rule of law in matters concerning the party.
According to him, the credibility of democratic institutions depends on adherence to court decisions and the fair treatment of stakeholders.
Omoaje also acknowledged the support of party members and sympathisers who stood by the Action Alliance during its legal and political struggles.
“They demonstrated that truth, perseverance and justice will always prevail regardless of the obstacles,” he said.
He pledged that, if elected, he would pursue policies aimed at promoting national unity, economic prosperity and good governance.
Urging party members to remain united, Omoaje said the task ahead required collective effort and commitment.
“This is not the end of a struggle; it is the beginning of a greater mission. Together, we will build a stronger Action Alliance and offer Nigerians a vision founded on hope, progress and prosperity,” he said.
He concluded by praying for the continued growth of the party and for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.
