A House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Edeh Benjamin, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election for the Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency of Cross River State and called for a review of the process.

Benjamin, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, said he had submitted a petition to the national leadership of the party seeking a review of the primary election.

He expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the exercise, saying he believed the process did not reflect the expectations of party members and supporters.

According to him, the issues arising from the primary election raise concerns about party unity and internal democratic processes within the ADC in Cross River State.

Benjamin said his petition was aimed at drawing the attention of the party leadership to grievances arising from the primary and ensuring that all concerns are properly addressed.

“The issue before us is bigger than one individual or one constituency. It concerns confidence in our party’s democratic processes and the need to strengthen internal mechanisms for resolving disputes,” he said.

The aspirant urged the ADC National Working Committee (NWC), party elders and other stakeholders to examine the complaints surrounding the primary election and ensure that due process is followed.

Efforts to obtain comments from the party leadership on the matter were not immediately successful as of the time of filing this report.
