Member representing Ketu Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wahab Haruna Abiodun Egungbohun, has congratulated Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, over his victory in the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State.

Egungbohun described the outcome of the exercise as a strong indication of the confidence reposed in Senator Adeola’s leadership capacity, political experience and grassroots appeal by party members and stakeholders across the state.

In a statement made available to Vanguard on Friday, the lawmaker said the overwhelming support garnered by Adeola during the primary election reflected the unity and determination of APC members to present a formidable candidate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

According to him, Senator Adeola’s emergence marks another significant step in the long-standing political aspiration of Ogun West, a development he noted has remained central in the state’s political discourse for years.

He said, “Many leaders and stakeholders from Ogun West have consistently advocated greater political inclusion and representation. Senator Adeola’s emergence has further renewed the hopes and aspirations of the people of the senatorial district.”

Egungbohun added that the senator’s consistency within the progressive fold, political experience and relationship with people across the state had continued to earn him acceptance among party faithful and residents.

The lawmaker expressed confidence in Adeola’s ability to provide purposeful leadership and consolidate on the developmental strides currently being witnessed in Ogun State.

He also lauded party leaders, delegates and members for ensuring a peaceful and successful conduct of the primary election, describing the process as a reflection of internal democracy and unity within the APC.

Egungbohun particularly appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, elder statesman Chief Olusegun Osoba, Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governors of the state and other APC stakeholders for their guidance, support and contributions towards Adeola’s emergence as the party’s governorship candidate.

“The roles played by party leaders at different levels have further reinforced the spirit of unity and stability within the APC in Ogun State,” he stated.

The lawmaker urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stressing that collective efforts would be required to secure victory for the ruling party.

“Senator Adeola’s emergence reflects the trust and confidence reposed in him by party members across the state. I congratulate him on this achievement and pray for wisdom and strength as he prepares for the enormous responsibility ahead,” Egungbohun said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of the APC and pledged continued support towards ensuring the party’s success in the forthcoming general election.
