Rising Nigerian artist Chigaemezu Nkwocha, better known as ExpensiveVibes, is putting his own spin on Afrobeats with a sound he says deserves premium attention.

Following the release of his new single ‘Kilimanjaro’ he sat down with us to explain the meaning behind both the track and his name. “I chose ‘ExpensiveVibes’ because my music is different and unique,” he said. “It stands for originality and quality, something people should value and hold onto, like you would with something expensive.”

“Kilimanjaro” uses Africa’s highest peak as a metaphor for striking beauty and confidence.

“It’s a general expression of appreciation,” he explained with a laugh. “Her presence is so captivating, it stands tall and stands out, just like Kilimanjaro. The song celebrates beauty, confidence, and that standout energy.”

Music has been part of his life from the start. With a father who is a traditional singer, ExpensiveVibes says creativity runs in the family. “It’s been in me since I was a kid. Music flows in my blood.”

“Kilimanjaro” isn’t his first release. Fans already know tracks like “Jara” and he says more songs are on the way. Looking ahead, he promises bigger visuals, stronger fan connection, and a deeper fusion of highlife and traditional African sounds with his modern style.
