SIVVAR and Automedics take AI innovation to Nigeria’s auto repair sector

In a bold move that could redefine the future of automobile diagnostics and repairs in Africa, SIVVAR Telecommunications Limited, in collaboration with Automedics Nigeria, is preparing to launch an innovative Artificial Intelligence-driven automotive solution known as AUTOMEDICS AI.

The groundbreaking platform, which is currently undergoing beta testing, is expected to officially hit the Nigerian market on or before the third quarter of 2026. Industry stakeholders are already describing the project as one of the most promising indigenous AI-driven automotive support systems to emerge from Nigeria in recent years.

Developed to serve both automobile technicians and car owners, AUTOMEDICS AI is designed to become a one-stop intelligent hub for resolving vehicle-related challenges through instant access to reliable automotive diagnostics, repair guidance, and technical support.

The initiative is powered by advanced AI architecture known as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), a cutting-edge framework that enhances Large Language Models by retrieving information from verified external knowledge bases before generating responses. This technology significantly reduces misinformation and hallucinations commonly associated with traditional AI systems while delivering accurate, industry-specific solutions.

For Nigeria’s automotive repair ecosystem — where many technicians still rely heavily on manual troubleshooting, fragmented information, and costly trial-and-error methods — the platform could usher in a major transformation.

SIVVAR Telecommunications Limited, a subsidiary of TheCodec Systems, was founded to provide cutting-edge technology solutions tailored toward solving practical African problems. TheCodec Systems itself has spent over two decades delivering voice and communication technology solutions to numerous organizations across Nigeria.

By partnering with Automedics Nigeria, an organization renowned for training thousands of auto mechanics and empowering car users with automotive knowledge, SIVVAR Telecommunications is now integrating years of practical automotive expertise into an intelligent AI-powered ecosystem.

Speaking on the significance of the project, the Chief Executive Officer of SIVVAR Telecommunications Limited and Founder of TheCodec Systems, Mr. Kayode Akintunde, stressed the urgent need for Nigeria and Africa to embrace Artificial Intelligence as a tool for solving real societal and industrial problems.

“Artificial Intelligence should not merely remain a buzzword in Africa. We must deliberately deploy it to solve the everyday problems affecting our people, industries, and economies. AUTOMEDICS AI is a strong example of how technology can simplify complex technical challenges for millions of Nigerians,” Akintunde said.

According to him, the future of Africa’s development will largely depend on the continent’s ability to build homegrown intelligent systems capable of addressing local realities.

“For too long, Africa has consumed technology built for other environments. The future belongs to nations that create AI systems trained around their local realities, languages, industries, and peculiar challenges. That is exactly the direction we are taking with AUTOMEDICS AI,” he stated.

Industry observers believe one of the platform’s strongest advantages lies in the depth of the automotive knowledge base being integrated into the AI engine. Automedics Nigeria has spent years building technical capacity among mechanics through hands-on training, workshops, mentorship programs, and automotive support initiatives across the country.

Now, that collective knowledge is being digitized into a smart, accessible platform.

The developers say users will eventually be able to diagnose car symptoms, identify engine problems, interpret dashboard warning indicators, access repair procedures, and receive real-time troubleshooting assistance through the AI system.

Akintunde explained that beyond solving current automotive challenges, the project also aims to preserve valuable indigenous technical knowledge for future generations.

“We are sitting on decades of practical automotive knowledge acquired by Nigerian technicians and engineers. If we fail to digitize and preserve that intelligence using AI, we risk losing valuable expertise that can transform industries and empower younger generations,” he noted.

He further emphasized that the project reflects a broader vision of technological self-reliance across Africa.

“The global AI revolution presents Africa with an opportunity to leapfrog traditional developmental limitations. Rather than waiting for foreign solutions, Nigerian innovators must begin building intelligent systems capable of solving our own local problems. That is the spirit driving this project,” Akintunde added.

Mrs. Grace Onuoha, Systems Analyst and Project Manager at SIVVAR Telecommunications Limited, disclosed that the project team has already entered an intensive beta testing phase aimed at refining the platform’s performance, user experience, and diagnostic accuracy before its official rollout.

“AUTOMEDICS AI is not just another chatbot project. It is a deeply structured intelligent automotive support ecosystem designed around verified automotive knowledge, practical field experience, and scalable AI infrastructure,” she explained.

According to her, the project’s long-term viability stems from the robustness of the data ecosystem powering the AI engine.

“The viability of this project lies in the richness of the knowledge base being integrated into the system. We are combining years of automotive training materials, diagnostic procedures, technical manuals, and practical repair experiences into one intelligent framework capable of delivering real-time assistance,” Onuoha said.

She added that the development team is also preparing the platform to adapt to the future of mobility, including hybrid and electric vehicle technologies.

“Many mechanics in rural or underserved communities often lack access to updated technical information. AUTOMEDICS AI has the potential to close that gap by placing intelligent automotive support directly in the hands of technicians regardless of location,” she noted.

Technology analysts believe the introduction of AUTOMEDICS AI could significantly improve transparency, efficiency, and trust within Nigeria’s automotive repair industry. Car owners who often struggle with inaccurate diagnoses or inconsistent repair recommendations may soon have access to reliable AI-supported guidance rooted in verified automotive expertise.

With the platform currently progressing through beta testing and preparations underway for its anticipated Q3 2026 market launch, expectations continue to build within both Nigeria’s technology ecosystem and automotive sector.

For many observers, AUTOMEDICS AI represents more than just a digital product. It symbolizes a growing movement toward indigenous innovation, practical AI deployment, and Africa’s determination to create world-class solutions capable of solving local challenges at scale.

If successfully deployed, AUTOMEDICS AI may well become one of the defining examples of how Nigerian technology companies are leveraging Artificial Intelligence to transform industries, preserve local expertise, and shape the future of problem-solving across the continent.
