Dennis Osadebay University VC unveils vision to reposition institution

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Dennis Osadebay University, Samuel Ovuete Aghalino, has unveiled a strategic vision aimed at repositioning the institution for greater relevance, innovation and global competitiveness.

The vision, anchored on Global Reach, Academic Excellence, and Gown and Town Engagement (GRAEGTE), is designed to transform the university into a socially responsive and development-driven institution.

Prof Aghalino said the administration would prioritise international collaborations with reputable institutions and research bodies to boost global visibility, attract grants and enhance staff and student exchange programmes.

He also pledged to promote academic excellence through quality teaching, impactful research, improved infrastructure and adherence to global best practices, with a focus on producing well-rounded graduates.

As part of efforts to strengthen community impact, the Vice Chancellor emphasised the need for stronger engagement between the university and its host communities through research, entrepreneurship and social intervention programmes.

The initiative, he noted, would position the university as a hub for innovation and a key driver of societal development.

He further disclosed plans to strengthen the university’s digital presence by embracing emerging technologies that support modern learning, research and global engagement.

According to him, staff development and capacity building would also be prioritised to ensure lecturers and researchers remain competitive and productive in a rapidly evolving academic environment.

Prof Aghalino added that the administration would foster a culture of inclusiveness, innovation and integrity, while creating an enabling environment for students and staff to thrive.
