Prof. Mondy Selle Gold, Chairman of the Ijaw Diaspora Council and U.S. Chairman of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced a Service of Songs to honor his late mother, Ma Bedagbere Jennifer Gold (née Ozikozi), Amaokosuere of Torugbene, who passed away at the age of 114.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Abundant Grace Christian Center (The Newark Foursquare Church), Newark, New Jersey. A reception will follow immediately after the service. Her burial is scheduled for July 12–14, 2026.
The family has suggested an optional dress code of formal black or white, or all‑white attire, symbolizing reverence and celebration of Ma Bedagbere’s life.
Fondly remembered as Amaokosuere of Torugbene, Ma Bedagbere lived a life of resilience, faith, and generosity. Tributes from across the Ijaw diaspora highlight her role as a matriarch, cultural custodian, and unifying figure.
Prof. Gold expressed gratitude and invited prayers, presence, and spiritual support: “We gather to celebrate a life well lived and a soul now at rest in the Lord.”
