A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bayelsa State, Dr Moses Oruaze Dickson, has commended the peaceful and successful conduct of the party’s national convention held in Abuja, describing it as a demonstration of unity and preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the convention, Dr Dickson said the orderly conduct of the exercise reflected the growing internal cohesion, discipline and democratic culture within the party.
He noted that the party’s structured approach to its internal elections, from ward, local government, state and zonal congresses to the national convention, showed a consistent commitment to due process and inclusiveness.

According to him, the outcome of the convention had further strengthened confidence among members and supporters of the party across the country.
“The peaceful conduct of this convention is a strong reflection of the stability, discipline and democratic ideals of our party. From the ward congresses up to this national convention, the NDC has shown that it is organised, united and fully prepared for the 2027 elections,” he said.

Dr Dickson urged party members to remain focused and committed to the collective vision of building a stronger political platform capable of addressing national challenges and meeting the aspirations of Nigerians.
He also commended party leaders and stakeholders for what he described as their sustained efforts, sacrifice and dedication in strengthening the structure of the party.

The Bayelsa politician, who is also a leading aspirant for the Sagbama Constituency One seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, said the growing acceptance of the party across the country was an indication of increasing public interest in its ideology.
He said many Nigerians were identifying with the party due to its emphasis on justice, equity and national development.

Dr Dickson also paid tribute to the national leader of the party and former Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, describing him as a respected statesman whose leadership and democratic values continued to inspire younger politicians.
He said the former governor had consistently promoted inclusive governance, peace and political stability within and beyond Bayelsa State.

While calling for sustained unity among members, Dr Dickson urged party faithful to remain peaceful and law-abiding, stressing that cohesion would be key to success in the forthcoming party primaries and the general elections.

He expressed optimism that the momentum generated by the convention would further consolidate the party’s position as a growing political force ahead of 2027.
