The ancient city of Okrika came alive at the weekend as family, friends and prominent figures from politics and business gathered to celebrate the 60th birthday of Mrs. Boma Ogan, daughter of former Rivers State governor, Rufus Ada-George.
The celebration began with a thanksgiving service at the Florence Ogan Memorial Hall. Speaking during the service, Mrs. Ogan reflected on her life and marriage, expressing gratitude for what she described as God’s guidance through difficult moments. “When we slacked, He was there to raise us up,” she said.
Her husband, Amb. Idaere Gogo Ogan, chairman of the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture, praised the celebrant for her support and contributions to his personal and professional journey.
At the reception held at Florence Court, board secretary of the chamber, Dr. Solomon Edebiri, described Mrs. Ogan as a supportive partner whose encouragement had contributed to her husband’s success in both business and public engagements.
Among dignitaries at the event were former Gombe State governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, former Shell country chair Osagie Okunbor, Rivers PETROAN chairman Billy Gillis-Harry, Genesis Group Managing Director Naeto Ohazuruike, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara, and former Minister of Transportation Abiye Sekibo, among others.
