A female Aspirant for Ilorin West/Asa federal Constituency, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hajia Mopelola AbdulMalik Bashir has concluded plans to square up with the incumbent Muktar Shagaya, assuring people of the constituency that she’ll perform far better than him if given the opportunity.

Mopelola two time commissioner in the current administration who spoke in a media interactive session with journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday promised among others to provide water for all and particularly raise the bar of NCE education attainment of majority of the youths of Asa among other severe challenges in the constituency.

According to her:”People know that I have burning heart to serve the people, apart from being an activist.The monumental achievements I recorded while serving as commissioner for Women Affairs,and that of Water resources are still speaking for me across the state,not only in Asa where I come from and ilorin West.

“So,my people in Asa and Ilorin
West know the capacity of what I can do,they can also attest to my competence.Obviously going by what they experienced in about three years ago in the administration of Muktar Shagaya,it’s very clear to everyone that I would have done better than what he has done and of course I will do far better particularly in the areas of meeting the real needs of our people and giving them the attention they needed.

“So, I’ll give our people a new touch of representation and make more inclusive in the affairs of the constituency unlike what’s being experienced now.”

She further said that,”I’m from Asa,and the senate is going to ilorin West,so it’s our turn in Asa for House of representatives seat because the Senate can’t go to Ilorin West and we’ll retain House of Representatives in Ilorin West where Muktar Shagaya comes from,so this is a fact we are working with.

“At the same time I know power is not served a la carte,you have to fight for it, that’s why we are raising this issue for our stakeholders to look at and take informed decision at the appropriate time.”she said

Mopelola-Eleniyan as fondly called by her political admirers also lamented the abandoned federal roads in the constituency namely Ogbondoroko- Laduba-Eiyenkorin among others which had denied thousands of residents in the areas social amenities good living.

She promised to use the office to fix the roads and others if given the opportunity in the 2027 general election.

Mopelola-Eleniyan further assured the youths of meaningful empowerment whereby they’ll be able to earn a living and conveniently take care of their families.

“I’ll look into skills acquisition and empower youth in areas of interest,give them cash-backing and also monitor them so that they can be useful not only to themselves but also to the community at large.” she said

The Woman activist also observed that the three local governments namely Asa,Moro and Ifelodun as presently constituted have denied people real dividends of democracy because of their massive landmass and topography.

“There’s the need to create two additional local governments in that axis,the landmass and topography of the local governments is from end to end,can you imagine that the local governments links Igbeti and Saki in Oyo state, there’s no way people can actually feel the presence of government.

“So, additional two local governments should be created to bring dividends of democracy to the doorstep of the people.”she said.

She also bemoaned wrong forecast of NIMET last year which led to humongous loss of harvests by farmers in the constituency, assuring that she’ll fashion out irrigation system that would ensure all year round farming for farmers in the constituency.

“I can assure you that when this is done,by the grace of almighty God,the harvest from our farms in the constituency alone can conveniently feed people of Kwara Central because our lands for farming is massive.”she said
