Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency of Lagos State on Thursday converged to officially unveil and endorse Mr. Moses Olanrewaju as an aspirant for the House of Representatives, with party leaders urging him to run an issue-based campaign focused on unity, development and effective representation.
The event, which attracted party faithful from all wards in Amuwo-Odofin, had in attendance political leaders, religious leaders, ethnic groups, the 14 councillors across the local government, traders and various trade unions.
Speaking during the official campaign flag-off, the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Prince Lanre Sanusi, described the gathering as a significant moment for the constituency and the ruling party.
Sanusi expressed appreciation to party supporters and stakeholders for their continued commitment to the APC, saying: “We sincerely appreciate you. May the Lord be with you and may the Lord strengthen you.”
Addressing the gathering, the council boss said: “Distinguished people of our great party, stakeholders and esteemed party faithful of the greatest party, it is with great pleasure and a good sense of responsibility that I welcome you to this significant occasion.
“This is the official flag-off and endorsement of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our son that has shown interest in representing the people of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency.”
According to him, the event signified not just the beginning of a political journey but a continuation of the collective commitment to progress, unity and purposeful representation for the people of the constituency.
“Amuwo-Odofin has always stood as a beacon of political consciousness, resilience and development. Our people are enlightened, engaged and passionate about leadership that delivers. This is why moments like this are so significant. They are strategic, symbolic and democratic in strength,” he said.
Sanusi reiterated that his administration remained committed to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
“As the Executive Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, my foremost priority remains the development and welfare of our people. Governance at the grassroots level must reflect impact, inclusiveness and accountability.
“It is in this same spirit we look forward to a greater and rewarding future, having credible and capable representation across board for the people of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency and both Constituency I and Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly,” he stated.
The council chairman also charged the aspirant to focus on issues affecting the people and avoid divisive politics.
“To our aspirant, I commend your courage and willingness to serve. Leadership is a call to responsibility, sacrifice and vision.
“As you begin this journey, I want you to run an issue-based campaign, one that unites and not divides, inspires hope and speaks to the real needs of our people,” he added.
Sanusi further described the APC as a party founded on hope and resilience, expressing confidence in Olanrewaju’s capacity to represent the constituency effectively.
“Our party, the All Progressives Congress, is a great party. We believe in hope, even in the face of several difficulties and uncertainty. God has given us a capable, reliable and responsible candidate with the capacity to represent the people of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the upcoming election,” he said.
In his remarks, Olanrewaju appreciated party leaders and stakeholders for their support and endorsement.
“I am extending my appreciation to our GAC leader, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, and also appreciating all our traditional rulers and everyone in positions of authority.
“To the talk-and-do chairman of Amuwo-Odofin, Prince Sanusi, we are saying thank you, the one who has done what no other person has done, the one who said it and is doing it,” Olanrewaju said.
