A group under the aegis of Edo Youth Renaissance (EYR) has urged Osagie Ize-Iyamu to clarify his position on the Edo South Senatorial District race, stating that its support currently rests with Omorgie Ogbeide-Ihama.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Igbinovia Osadolor, the group said its position is based on what it described as four key considerations: experience, electability, youthfulness and track record.

According to the group, Ogbeide-Ihama meets these criteria, citing his tenure as a two-term member of the House of Representatives, where he contributed to legislative activities, including work related to tourism and culture.

It also referenced his electoral history, noting that he has secured victories in previous contests, which it says reflects grassroots support.

On youth engagement, the group said Ogbeide-Ihama has maintained visibility in political and community activities over the years, including interactions with young people within and outside the state.

The statement further highlighted his legislative experience and past electoral wins in Oredo Federal Constituency in 2015 and 2019.

The group, however, called on Ize-Iyamu to outline his credentials and political record as discussions around the 2027 senatorial race continue.
