Lawmaker dismisses withdrawal rumours, reaffirms 2027 assembly ambition

A member representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Stephen Ogundipe has dismissed speculations that he has withdrawn from the 2027 legislative race, insisting that he remains firmly in contention for the party’s ticket.

In a press statement issued on Monday, Ogundipe described the rumours as “unfounded” and “deliberate misinformation,” stressing that he is focused, prepared, and confident of clinching the party’s nomination ahead of the election.

“I am very much in the race,” he said, urging supporters, party leaders, and stakeholders across the constituency to remain calm and resolute”, he said.

The lawmaker, said his ambition is anchored on years of consistent service, proven leadership, and people-oriented programmes that have impacted communities within the constituency.

According to him, his track record in legislative performance and grassroots development remains “clear, visible, and verifiable” across all wards, adding that his loyalty to party ideals and contributions over the years place him in good standing to secure the ticket.

Ogundipe further maintained that no form of political pressure or manoeuvring would force him to abandon his ambition or the mandate of his constituents.

He disclosed that consultations with party stakeholders and constituents are ongoing, noting that the level of support and encouragement received has continued to boost confidence in his chances.

The chairman of the House Committee on Information Strategy and Security also called on his supporters to remain law-abiding and engage constructively as the political process unfolds.

Expressing optimism about the outcome, Ogundipe said he is confident of emerging victorious in the race, attributing his assurance to growing grassroots backing and faith in God.
