OSOGBO — Local government workers in Osun State under the umbrella of the Association of Concerned Local Government Workers have endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chairman Comrade Tirimisiyu Adedayo said the endorsement followed a review of the candidate’s vision and plans for the state.
He directed members of the association to support Oyebamiji at the polls, urging unity in backing his candidacy.
The group also called for an end to casualisation in government employment, describing it as exploitative and detrimental to professional growth.
It further advocated safer working conditions, stronger respect for labour unions, and increased investment in training to improve productivity in the public service.
Adedayo noted that workers now play a key role in governance decisions, including electoral participation and development priorities, urging government to pay greater attention to their concerns.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (Association of Local Governments of Nigeria) in Osun State, Hon. Abiodun Idowu, commended local government workers for their dedication and resilience in sustaining grassroots administration.
He assured workers that their welfare remains a priority, including timely payment of salaries, improved working conditions, recruitment of qualified personnel, and continuous training to enhance service delivery.
Idowu added that efforts would be sustained to strengthen the local government system as the tier of government closest to the people.
