A frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), has formally declared his ambition for the 2027 election, vowing to make security and human capital development the pillars of his administration.
Addressing a large crowd of party faithful and supporters at his declaration ceremony, Bolarinwa promised decisive action against rising insecurity in parts of the state, assuring residents that the protection of lives and property would be non-negotiable under his leadership.
The declaration, according to a statement by his media office, comes amid growing concerns over banditry and kidnappings in some communities, a development that has heightened public anxiety. Bolarinwa pledged a comprehensive strategy to restore safety and public confidence across the state.
“We will decisively tackle and comprehensively address insecurity at all levels, ensuring the safety of lives and property across every part of the state,” he said.
Beyond security, the former lawmaker outlined an ambitious plan to drive human capital development through strategic investments in education, healthcare and skills acquisition, with a focus on empowering youths and women.
He described his governorship bid as a call to service, rooted in his long-standing political experience as a councillor, local government chairman, member of the National Assembly and former APC state chairman.
“Our state stands at a critical point where we must deepen development, expand opportunities, and ensure that governance reflects fairness, inclusion and justice,” he stated.
Bolarinwa also pledged to build an inclusive economy anchored on innovation, agriculture and enterprise development, while promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Calling for broad-based support, he described his ambition as a collective movement to reposition Kwara for sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
“This is a mission for all of us. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Kwara,” he said.
He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing confidence that similar transformative policies could be replicated at the state level.
Earlier, Chairman of the BOB 2027 Central Planning Committee, Mr. Abolaji Afolabi, said the aspiration reflects the people’s desire for purposeful leadership, noting that consultations across the state indicate strong support for Bolarinwa’s candidacy.
The event drew prominent political figures and stakeholders, including former and serving lawmakers, party elders and community leaders, underscoring the weight of support behind the APC aspirant’s bid.
