Reactions have continued to trail comments by gospel artiste Salau Aliu Olayiwola, popularly known as Testimony Jaga, following his criticism of remarks made during a church discussion on the “prosperity gospel.”

During the discussion, the speaker rejected the concept, stating that “there is no such thing as prosperity gospel” and maintaining that “there is only the gospel of Jesus Christ.” The position sparked debate within religious circles and online communities.

Jaga, reacting in a viral video, disagreed with the framing, arguing that the gospel should emphasise hope and transformation, especially in the face of widespread economic hardship. He also questioned the stance, referencing the speaker’s time in public office and calling for measurable impact in addressing poverty.

Other users, however, urged caution in judging public figures, noting the complexities of governance and decision-making at the highest levels.

On Instagram, several commenters aligned with the theological stance, emphasising that the core message of Christianity should focus on the gospel of Christ, with prosperity seen as a secondary outcome.

Some respondents also defended the position, pointing out that leadership roles in government often come with limitations and constraints.
