Ahead of 2027 Imo governorship election, a political pressure group advocating for the emergence of another governor from Orlu Zone, has named the Imo State Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Cosmos Maduba, popularly known as Oduebube Isu, as their Patron of Orlu Again 2027.
The group, led by it’s Convener, Ambassador Samuel Chieke, disclosed this after a meeting with the Commissioner at his residence in New Owerri.
After the visit, the convener of the group, Chieke, revealed the details of the meeting to newsmen, on Saturday according to him, the group’s leadership expressed strong opposition to the Charter of Equity. A zoning arrangement aimed at returning governorship power to Owerri Zone after the tenure of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
They argued that the charter lacks constitutional backing and should not restrict the political aspirations of eligible candidates across the state.
Ambassador Chieke emphasized that “every Imo indigene, regardless of zone, has the constitutional right to contest for the governorship. According to him, leadership should not be determined by zoning but by competence, noting that Orlu Zone has a pool of capable individuals who can effectively govern the state.”
He added that part of Chief Maduba’s response was that he (Maduba) expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him, he described it as a call to greater responsibility. He assured the group of his willingness to facilitate a meeting with Governor Uzodimma to enable them formally present their position.
