Haske declares for 2027 Adamawa governorship race, unveils A.R.I.S.E agenda

Businessman and philanthropist Abdulrahman Bashir Haske is set to officially declare his intention to contest the 2027 Adamawa State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to a statement issued by his publicity secretary, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, the declaration rally is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola and is expected to attract about 50,000 political stakeholders and supporters from across the state and beyond.

The event is expected to bring together APC leaders and members, political allies across party lines, youth and women groups, support organisations, and other stakeholders backing Haske’s ambition.

The statement noted that the rally would also feature a formal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of Haske’s governing blueprint, tagged the Adamawa A.R.I.S.E. Agenda, which focuses on Accountable Governance, Resilient Economy, Inclusive Infrastructure, Sustainable Environment and Social Development, and security under the theme “Every Life Protected.”

According to the statement, the agenda is designed to address key challenges facing the state, including a 75.4 per cent poverty rate, heavy dependence on federal allocations, and rising youth unemployment.

Haske, described as one of the emerging political figures in the state, has reportedly secured endorsements from several APC stakeholders and support groups ahead of the party’s governorship primaries scheduled for May 23.

During the recently concluded APC congresses in Adamawa, party leaders reportedly endorsed him as their preferred aspirant, describing him as “a capable and forward-looking leader with a clear vision.”

On April 22, 265 women’s groups across the state also endorsed him, citing his philanthropic interventions such as the distribution of food items, agricultural inputs, and Ramadan outreach programmes for vulnerable households.

Support has also come from advocacy groups including the Renew Team for Unity, Progress and Initiative Forum and the Making Adamawa Great Again movement, while the Yoro community of Ganye Chiefdom in Ganye Local Government Area also pledged support for his candidacy.

The statement added that Haske has continued to mobilise young people through initiatives such as Operation Youth-O’Clock and Youths4Youth, while also supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and party-building efforts within the APC.

Political observers believe his declaration signals a potentially competitive governorship race and reflects growing calls for generational leadership change in Adamawa.
