The former British Commonwealth and WBA Continental Light Heavyweight boxing champion, Peter Idemudia Oboh, has described his sister, Mabel, as a woman of substance, for whom “impossible” does not exist.
Peter made the remark in celebration of Mabel Oboh’s birthday, which comes up tomorrow, April 18.
Also, he noted, the birthday celebration coming at the time of ceasefire in the Israel-Lebanon war, was very symbolic.
According to Peter, who is now a cleric, “As Mabel Akomu Oboh, my sister, marks her birthday tomorrow, Saturday, April 18, I want to applaud her resilience, hardwork and professionalism.
“She is a veteran journalist, who has made her mark in broadcasting, production, and movie directing, besides working with the United Nations, UN.
“A graduate of a drammar school in Dublin, Ireland, and criminology, Mabel’s achievements are products her strong mindset of ‘if you don’t work you should not eat’. That is why she is still working.
“One of her major strengths is knowing when to say yes and when to say no. Also, the word ‘impossible’ is not in her dictionary. She believes if you really need or want something, you should be prepared to pay the price, even if you have to cut your sleep, until your dreams become reality.
“An advocate of good health, Mabel is one person that insists you must learn to listen to your doctors, as well to know when to take a rest.
“Recall that she once ran for the governorship positon of our home state, Edo, on the platform of African Democratic Congress, ADC, some years ago. And she is still working faithfully with the ADC till now.
“Speaking about politics, the person that will win 2027 presidential elections will be either from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, or ADC. The gospel truth is that these two parties carry the majority of Nigeria’s political heavyweights contestanting for top offices.
“Also, I want to use this opportunity to congratulate all the peacemakers in this Isreali-USA vs Iran and Lebanon conflict. The good news is a ceasefire has been agreed on. So let us hope and pray it will continue this way.
“We all, including Benjamin Netanyahu the Israeli Prime Minister, know this truth – peace brings out the best in us the way war brings out the worst in us. So let us always pray for peace because God Almighty loves a peacemaker.”
