ABUJA – The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has aligned with the Action Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring a push to produce a youth president.

The move thrusts a youth-driven bloc into the heart of partisan politics, with its leaders saying young Nigerians are no longer content with the sidelines and are now ready to compete for power at the highest level.

At a world press conference on Thursday, NYA President, Aliyu Bin Abbas, announced the alliance alongside the organisation’s 36 state chairmen and 774 local government coordinators.

Also speaking at the briefing was Kano State ADP Secretary, Rabiu Gwale.

The alliance said its entire structure across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory and all 774 local government areas has now moved into the ADP, expressing confidence that this nationwide spread will translate into votes in 2027.

“Nigeria is blessed with everything we can dream up. It is a beautiful country. What we need now is a leadership that will turn its fortunes around for good, that, the ADP will provide,” Abbas said.

He acknowledged that the group may not have the financial strength of bigger parties but said it would rely on belief and the strength of Nigerian youths to drive its ambition.

“Already, our structures in the 36 states, FCT and the 774 local government areas have all joined the ADP and the buzz is on. We look forward to victory,” he declared.

Abbas also pointed to what he described as long-standing challenges in the country, expressing confidence that the ADP offers a different path if elected.

On his part, Gwale described the ADP as a stable platform, taking aim at major rivals such as the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party, which he said are grappling with internal crises.

“ADP is the only party without crisis in Nigeria. APC corrupt, PDP, ADC are destroyed, ADP is the only platform credible to deliver Nigeria,” he said.

The event also featured a cultural showcase, including the unveiling of Hausa music by Aki Prince Zaki and Aliyu Haidar, alongside a performance by a Kilago group, adding colour and local flavour to the political message.
