A political support group, Reality Is Here Movement, has declared its backing for Engr. Dr. Chris Okonkwo ahead of his planned governorship declaration scheduled for Friday, April 17, 2026, in Enugu State.

The group’s coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Onwe, said the expected declaration under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) signals what it described as a new phase in the state’s political landscape.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the group described Okonkwo’s entry into the race as offering a credible alternative, citing his professional background and perceived integrity as distinguishing factors among aspirants.

According to Onwe, the movement has put structures in place to mobilise support across the 17 local government areas and 260 political wards in the state, with the aim of securing the party’s ticket and building momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

“Our structure is fully in place and operational across the state. We are committed to providing the necessary grassroots, logistical and strategic support required for Dr. Okonkwo to emerge as the ADC candidate,” he said.

The group described the aspirant as an experienced technocrat capable of addressing key socio-economic challenges, including unemployment and poverty.

It stressed the need for leadership anchored on competence and accountability, noting that the forthcoming declaration offers an opportunity for citizens to align with what it termed a people-driven agenda.

The statement also outlined plans for intensified grassroots sensitisation and political engagement to boost participation in the electoral process ahead of 2027.

The group urged residents of Enugu State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), emphasising that active civic participation remains essential for meaningful political change.
