Fintech firm marks 3rd anniversary with record growth, expansion plans

Platnova, a Nigerian financial technology company, has marked its third anniversary with significant milestones, reporting a user base of over 100,000 verified customers and active operations spanning more than 50 countries across 15 currencies.

The company, which was founded in 2023, has evolved from a digital payments platform into what it describes as a financial lifestyle ecosystem, offering services ranging from multi-currency wallets and international money transfers to virtual and physical debit cards, savings products, and lifestyle bookings, including flight reservations and hotel accommodations.

Speaking on the occasion, Benjamin Oyemolan, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Platnova, credited the company’s growth to its focus on solving practical financial challenges for Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora.

He said: “We set out to give Africans access to global financial infrastructure without the friction that had defined their experiences for decades. Three years later, the numbers tell the story.”

Among the company’s notable milestones is its Vault product, a multi-currency savings feature offering returns across United States Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, and the Nigerian Naira as well as its recently introduced USD Account creation feature, which enables users across the world to create, receive, and send United States Dollars in real time.

Platnova also recently abolished transfer fees on naira transactions, a move the company has positioned as a reflection of its user-first philosophy rather than a promotional offering.

The company holds regulatory registrations and partnerships across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Rwanda, positioning it as one of the few African fintechs with a compliant multi-jurisdictional presence.

As it enters its fourth year, Platnova has indicated plans to deepen its business-focused product offerings, improve onboarding processes, and expand into new markets, with a continued emphasis on serving African users who require access to global financial services.

Platnova’s achievements have been recognised at several industry platforms, including recognition as the Fastest Growing Fintech Startup in Nigeria and a second runner-up finish at the 2024 Startup World Cup Grand Finale in San Francisco, United States.
