The leadership of the All Progressives Congress is expected to take a decisive step that could shape its chances in the Osun West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 National Assembly election.

At the centre of growing political attention is Alhaji Waliyulai Adebayo Oladosu, popularly known as “ROVET,” who has emerged as a frontline aspirant in the senatorial contest.

Born in Iwo, Osun State, Oladosu hails from the Ago-Afidodo Compound in Gidigbo Quarter and is the son of the late Alhaji Amzat Ishola Adebayo, a respected community leader known for integrity and service.

With consultations intensifying across the senatorial district, supporters say ROVET’s growing acceptance among stakeholders and residents positions him as a strong contender capable of delivering victory for the APC.

A businessman, philanthropist and founder of ROVET Football Academy, Oladosu is widely recognised for youth empowerment initiatives and community development projects, particularly within Iwo and surrounding communities.

His supporters argue that his humanitarian contributions and private sector experience give him an edge in the race, noting that his football academy has helped nurture young talents who have gone on to play professionally abroad.

Speaking on his ambition, Oladosu said his decision to contest is driven by the desire to provide quality representation at the National Assembly.

He expressed confidence that Osun West would strongly support the APC in the 2027 elections, especially with key stakeholders such as Hon. Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) expected to play significant roles in the party’s structure.

“I am in the race to offer effective representation. If given the APC ticket, we will win convincingly,” he said.

Supporters of the aspirant, in a statement jointly signed by Saheed Alebiosu and Ibrahim Adelodun, described him as a competent and credible leader with the capacity to represent Osun West effectively at the national level.

They said his leadership style reflects inclusiveness, noting his engagement with youths, traditional rulers, professionals and community leaders across the district.

According to the group, Oladosu’s vision focuses on education, economic growth, infrastructure and human capital development, which they said align with the needs of the people.

They urged the APC to consider him as its candidate, describing his emergence as a “strategic and winning choice” for the party.

Meanwhile, Oladosu has continued consultations across key communities in Osun West, including a recent visit to the Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, where he emphasized the importance of traditional institutions in fostering unity and political stability.

The monarch, while receiving him, urged political actors to prioritise peace and development in their engagements.

Political observers say the contest is gradually shaping up in Osun West, with ROVET’s grassroots appeal and expanding network placing him among the aspirants to watch as the 2027 elections draw closer.
