Ogun: No crisis in NANS state chapter – SUG Presidents

By Emmanuel Okogba

Student Union Government (SUG) Presidents from various tertiary institutions in Ogun State have declared that there is no crisis in the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun State chapter.

In a joint statement, the student leaders dismissed recent reports of internal crisis, suspension of executives, and leadership tussle as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

The statement, signed by SUG Presidents from major institutions including Olabisi Onabanjo University, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Tai Solarin University of Education, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, and others, affirmed that no Senate sitting took place to suspend or remove any elected NANS executives in the state.

Those who signed were SUG Presidents of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye; Federal College of Education, Abeokuta; D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori; Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijebu-Ode; Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu; Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; and Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo.

They described the circulating claims as fabricated and aimed at destabilising the association in Ogun State.

The SUG Presidents reaffirmed their support for the current Chairman of the NANS Joint Campus Committee in Ogun State, stating that he remains the legitimate leader, duly accredited at both national and zonal conventions.

They urged the NANS National President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, to intervene and clarify the situation in order to restore calm and prevent tension within the student community.

The student leaders called on all stakeholders to disregard what they termed “false narratives” and allow due process in the affairs of NANS.
