ABUJA — Dauda Lawal is set to be honoured at the 2nd edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA) for his contributions to the growth of the country’s broadcast media industry.
The event, organised by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, will hold on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the NAF Conference Centre in Kado, Abuja.
According to a press release from BON, Governor Lawal will be recognised alongside other public figures, including Mohammed Idris, Bassey Edet Otu, and Uba Sani, for their support and policies that have strengthened the media sector and enhanced information dissemination.
“This recognition is in appreciation of their commitment to initiatives that have helped the broadcast industry thrive in Nigeria,” the organisers said.
TNBA, endorsed at BON’s 24th General Assembly, celebrates excellence and professionalism in the broadcasting sector. The 2026 edition received over 200 entries from media organisations across the country, with winners to be announced in 24 categories, including Radio Station of the Year, Television Station of the Year, Best Reporter, Best Newscaster, and Best Producer.
In addition to competitive awards, the ceremony will honour distinguished individuals for their lasting impact on the broadcast industry. Lifetime achievement awards will be presented to John Momoh, Yemi Farounbi, and Shyngle Wigwe. Posthumous awards will also recognise industry icons, including Raymond Dokpesi, for their enduring contributions.
The organisers noted that the event would gather stakeholders, practitioners, and policymakers to celebrate achievements, encourage best practices, and further elevate the standards of broadcasting in Nigeria.
