ABUJA — The Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has condemned the renewed wave of violence in Plateau State, describing the incidents as troubling and unacceptable.

In a statement issued by its Director-General, Abubakar Gambo Umar, the foundation expressed concern over the continued loss of lives and the impact on affected communities.

“The foundation is deeply saddened by the renewed violence and loss of lives in Plateau State. We strongly condemn these acts,” the statement said.

The organisation called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice, stressing the importance of accountability.

It also urged government authorities to provide support and assistance to affected individuals and communities, while taking steps to restore peace and stability across the state.

The foundation highlighted the need to protect residents and travellers, noting that continued tensions could further affect security if not promptly addressed.

It appealed to key stakeholders, including community leaders, religious groups, and political actors, to work together in promoting peace and preventing further escalation.

The statement further emphasised the importance of strengthening peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives in the state to achieve lasting stability.

As part of its recommendations, the foundation proposed the establishment of a reconciliation framework to address underlying issues and foster unity, noting that justice and inclusiveness remain essential for sustainable peace.
