The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has assured aspirants of a level playing field ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging fairness regardless of age, gender, or religion.

State Chairman of the party, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving a former Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Hon. Olasunmbo Oyeyemi, who formally declared her intention to contest for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

Fagbemi said the party was committed to adopting consensus arrangements in selecting candidates, adding that steps would be taken to prevent internal disputes before, during, and after the elections.

He described the APC as a united family and stressed the need to avoid rancorous primaries, noting that the party would soon release guidelines to streamline the number of aspirants across various positions.

“I pray we are not going to go through rancorous primaries, but the party will come up with guidelines in due course. This is not a do-or-die affair. APC is a single family, and we do not want anything that will divide us,” he said.

The chairman urged aspirants to focus on engaging with constituents and presenting themselves as the best candidates, emphasizing grassroots mobilization as key to electoral success.

Earlier, Oyeyemi said her decision to join the race was inspired by the performance of the APC-led administrations at both the state and national levels.

She commended Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, under whom she served between 2019 and 2023, for what she described as impactful development across the state.

At the national level, she also praised the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting improvements in key macroeconomic indicators.

“I have the interest to run, and I am ready to face the challenges ahead. I have the experience, having worked in government, and I believe I can contribute meaningfully at the National Assembly,” she said.

Oyeyemi stressed the importance of collaboration between lawmakers and the state government to avoid duplication of projects and ensure effective service delivery.

Also speaking, a party leader from Oke-Ero, Hon. Michael Ajamu, appealed to the APC leadership to support Oyeyemi’s aspiration, expressing confidence in her capacity and loyalty to the party.

The development signals the growing momentum within the Kwara APC as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 elections.
