Reps to investigate alleged $600,000 scam

BY GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE

BENIN—MINORITY Leader of  House of Representatives, Mr. Samson Osagie, has said the House will not leave any  stone unturned in getting to the root of the $600,000 bribery allegation against a member of the House.

The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, legislator, representing Orhionwon/Uhunmwonde Federal constituency in the National Assembly, told newsmen, yesterday, in Benin, Edo State,  that although the House was yet to take action or discuss the issue, it would take the necessary step it may deemed fit if the allegation was proved to be true.

He said, “it is shocking and unbelievable as it would be premature now to comment on whether the allegation is true or not.  One should not be in haste to conclude on the matter as one cannot rule out blackmail in the allegation.”

Osagie  assured the public that the National Assembly will do its best to ensure that the oil subsidies scam was not buried, adding that all the culprits, who had milked  the nation dry would be made to face the music.

“If the government and the oil ministry had been sincere with the nation, one would be bold to say  that there is no room for subsidizing oil because from the findings of the House, the oil price in Nigeria should not be more than N40 per litre,” he said
