ABUJA – AHEAD of the 2027 general elections, Kimpact Development Initiative, KDI, and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC to drive civic and voter education.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Communications Manager, KDI, Mercy Abiem, which explained that KDI and NYSC’s partnership is for the establishment of a Civic and Voter Education Community Development Service (CDS) Group for Corps members across Nigeria.

According to the statement, the partnership follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KDI and NYSC on 11th March 2026 at the NYSC National Headquarters.

The statement explained that, “This collaboration strengthens KDI’s ongoing efforts to expand civic education and deepen democratic participation nationwide.

“Under this initiative, thousands of Corps members across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be mobilised to promote voter and civic education within their host communities through the KDI Civic and Voter Education CDS Group.

“The programme will leverage the extensive national reach and community engagement
structure of the NYSC scheme, enabling voter education messages to reach diverse and
underserved populations.

“The initiative will also ensure that all voter education efforts remain
accurate, inclusive, and aligned with national electoral guidelines and civic mobilisation
standards.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone in institutionalising youth-led civic
engagement in Nigeria. By embedding voter education activities within the NYSC
structure, the programme creates a sustainable platform for young Nigerians to contribute
meaningfully to strengthening democratic culture and electoral integrity.
