OSOGBO – The Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Ishola, has called on youths in the southwest to consider careers in the Nigeria Police Force, especially with the ongoing recruitment exercise.

Oba Ishola praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 new police officers, describing it as the largest in the history of the force.

The monarch made the remarks while receiving DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd) at his palace in Ido-Osun, Osun State, commending both the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the President for the initiative.

He said, “I am using this medium to charge community leaders in the southwest to encourage their youths to join the police force. I appreciate President Bola Tinubu for approving such a large recruitment. It’s unprecedented and shows his commitment to filling gaps in the force.”

During the visit, the monarch also conferred the chieftaincy title of Aare Gbobaniyi of Ido-Osun Alayemore Kingdom on DIG Lakanu.

In his remarks, DIG Lakanu stressed the importance of mobilizing youths to join the police to strengthen regional security.

He noted, “We realized that many youths are no longer interested in joining the police. It may not be entirely their fault, but community leaders must encourage them. A day will come when we need their service, and if they are not involved now, we will miss out.”
