A coalition of Ogun State indigenes in the diaspora, under the aegis of Yayi Diaspora Movement (YDM), has declared its support to the governorship ambition of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group declared its support during its inaugural meeting which brought together members from 27 countries across the globe.
In a statement jointly signed by the Convener, Olusola Adisa Adubarin, and the Secretary, Adekunle Adegoke-Sanjay, described the formal launch of the movement as the beginning of a coordinated global effort to mobilize support for the senator’s governorship aspiration in Ogun State.
According to the statement, members at the meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Senator Adeola, citing his leadership capacity, integrity and track record in public service.
Participants drawn from Europe, North America, the Middle East and other parts of the world also pledged their commitment to ensuring the success of his governorship bid.
“The senator represents the kind of visionary and result-oriented leadership required to drive sustainable development in Ogun State,” the statement read.
The group noted that Adeola’s record of people-oriented projects, verifiable achievements and inclusive leadership style has continued to inspire confidence among Ogun indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.
According to the movement, no senator in the history of Ogun State has made as widespread an impact across the three senatorial districts of the state as Adeola.
Members pointed to several projects and interventions facilitated by the lawmaker, describing them as clear evidence of his commitment to equitable development and grassroots empowerment.
They expressed optimism that such achievements would translate into transformative leadership if he emerges governor of the state.
The meeting also deliberated on strategies aimed at strengthening support for the senator’s vision, with a number of initiatives expected to be rolled out in the coming months.
As part of efforts to deepen grassroots engagement, the movement resolved to establish a strong operational structure within the state.
This, according to the resolution, will include the appointment of a State Representative to coordinate the activities of the group locally.
The State Representative will work with 20 Local Government Coordinators representing each local government area in Ogun State to ensure effective mobilisation and dissemination of the group’s message across communities.
Reaffirming their commitment, members of the movement said their support for the senator is rooted in their confidence in his ability to deliver meaningful development for the people of Ogun State.
“We will continue to mobilise Ogun indigenes across the world while strengthening grassroots engagement at home in pursuit of a more prosperous and inclusive Ogun State,” the statement added.
