Siemens Healthineers has partnered with the African Medical Centre of Excellence, AMCE, Abuja, in a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing radiology, oncology, and comprehensive care for non-communicable diseases, NCDs, across Nigeria and Africa.

The AMCE, a US$300 million tertiary multi-specialty hospital developed by Afreximbank in partnership with King’s College Hospital London, has been setting new standards in healthcare since its opening in June 2025. The centre offers world-class services in oncology, cardiovascular care, haematology, radiology, and surgery, positioning itself as a hub for specialist treatment, research, and training in Africa.

Under the partnership, Siemens Healthineers will provide state-of-the-art medical imaging, precision diagnostics, and integrated cancer care solutions, while equipping AMCE clinicians with the skills to utilise these technologies effectively. The collaboration also includes cardiovascular solutions and clinical workflow optimisation to improve early diagnosis, treatment outcomes, and operational efficiency.

CEO of AMCE, Brian Deaver, said: “Our vision is to deliver internationally benchmarked care while serving as a hub for research, training, and innovation rooted in Africa’s healthcare realities. “Partnering with Siemens Healthineers strengthens our capacity to expand access to advanced diagnostics and cancer care across Nigeria and the continent.

“More patients will now receive world-class treatment closer to home, earlier diagnosis, precise interventions, and enhanced training for clinicians who will drive the next phase of specialised healthcare delivery in Africa.”

Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers Middle East and Africa, Vivek Kanade, added: “Our partnership with AMCE reflects the trust in our capabilities and marks a pivotal step in advancing sustainable, high-quality healthcare in Africa.

“By deploying advanced medical technologies and integrated solutions, we are empowering clinicians, strengthening health systems, and helping create a future where world-class care is accessible across Nigeria and beyond.

“We also appreciate the vital role of Tanit Medical Engineering in ensuring seamless project implementation.”

The collaboration comes at a critical time as NCDs now account for roughly 30 per cent of deaths in Nigeria, with cardiovascular diseases contributing about 10 per cent of fatalities. By combining cutting-edge technology with talent development, Siemens Healthineers and AMCE are setting a new benchmark for diagnostics, cancer care, and NCD management. The partnership is also expected to reduce medical tourism and retain top medical talent within Africa.
