Lagos State Model Senior College, Kankon, has emerged winner of the 2026 Spelling Bee Competition organised by the Isaac Sewanu Educational Foundation, ISEF, aimed at promoting academic excellence among secondary school students in Badagry.
The competition, held at Badagry Grammar School, attracted participants from various senior secondary schools across the area who competed in several rounds designed to test their spelling proficiency and command of the English language.
At the end of the contest, Lagos State Model Senior College, Kankon clinched the first position, while Ikoga Senior Grammar School came second. Badagry Grammar School Senior finished in third place.
Speaking during the event, founder of the Isaac Sewanu Educational Foundation, Mr. Isaac Sewanu, said the initiative was established to encourage students to develop greater interest in their studies and strengthen their academic abilities.
According to him, spelling competitions provide a platform for students to expand their vocabulary, build confidence and cultivate discipline in learning.
Sewanu added that the foundation remained committed to supporting educational development in Badagry through programmes that recognise and reward academic excellence among students.
Teachers and school administrators who attended the competition commended the foundation for sustaining an initiative that promotes learning and healthy academic competition among secondary school students in the community.
