…empowers 400 constituents with cash grants
By James Ogunnaike, Abeokuta
Member of the House of Representatives, representing Abeokuta North/Obafemi-Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency, Olumide Osoba, has empowered no fewer than 400 constituents with cash grants of N50,000 each, to support and expand their small businesses.
The beneficiaries, drawn from the 38 wards across the federal constituency, received the grants during an empowerment programme held in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
The initiative, according to the lawmaker, aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on inclusive governance and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
Speaking at the programme, Osoba said the initiative was part of his commitment to giving back to his constituents and strengthening support for the President Tinubu’s development agenda.
“Today, we are here because of our father and mentor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has proven that he has the capacity to pilot the affairs of this country for another four years,” he said.
“Four years is not enough for our President to fix the country. That is why we must all rally support for his re-election in 2027. At the same time, we are empowering 400 youths, women and other constituents with cash grants to support their businesses and improve their livelihoods in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Osoba urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds to grow their businesses and improve their economic conditions.
Dignitaries at the programme included former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Bode Mustapha; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide; member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Obafemi Owode Constituency, Hon. Soneye; Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Works, Engr. Akeem Adeshina; as well as chairmen of Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda Local Governments.
In his remarks, former lawmaker, Mustapha commended Osoba for what he described as consistent service to his people.
“I want to tell you today that Olumide Osoba has not disappointed us. He is a great performer and he has represented us well at the National Assembly,” Mustapha said.
“We are proud of him. I am not surprised because he is following in the footsteps of his father, the former governor of Ogun State. I urge him to continue his good work.”
Mustapha also called on residents to support the second-term ambition of President Tinubu in 2027.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Works, Engr. Akeem Adeshina, described Osoba as a promise keeper who deserves another term in office.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elemide, commended the lawmaker for facilitating the empowerment programme, noting that it would significantly improve the living standards of beneficiaries.
Elemide said Osoba’s performance had justified calls for his re-election in the 2027 general elections.
