Nestlé Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to improving nutrition, empowering communities, and promoting environmental sustainability with the launch of its “Nestlé for Good” campaign. The initiative aims to showcase how the company translates its Creating Shared Value (CSV) philosophy into practical action that impacts lives across Nigeria.
Speaking at the Lagos launch on Monday, Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, emphasised that companies operating at scale must be accountable not just for their products but for their broader societal impact.
“When a company reaches millions of people every day, it must hold itself to a higher standard,” Elhusseini said. “It must be accountable for its impact on communities and the environment. At Nestlé, this responsibility is guided by our Creating Shared Value principle, a recognition that our business can only succeed in the long term if communities around us also succeed. Economic performance and social progress are not competing priorities; they are interconnected.”
Elhusseini described the “Nestlé for Good” campaign as a platform to highlight the company’s contributions across three pillars: nutrition, community development, and environmental sustainability.
“As we look ahead, our focus remains to unlock the power of food to enhance quality of life while contributing to a healthier future for individuals and families across Nigeria,” he said.
Also speaking, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka, said the campaign represents only a fraction of Nestlé’s ongoing initiatives.
“The first pillar is nutrition, because Nestlé is good food, good life. We have an important role to play in providing adequate nutrition for families across Nigeria.
“The second pillar focuses on building thriving communities from access to clean water to improving teaching and learning facilities and household incomes. The third pillar is the planet, if we don’t have a planet, there’s no point to everything else we do.”
Uwadoka also stressed the critical role of collaboration, including partnerships with government, NGOs, and the media. “Progress is only possible when stakeholders work together. The media are a bridge between Nestlé and the public. By telling these stories, we ensure that our impact reaches those who need it most,” she said.
Highlighting Nestlé’s efforts on the ground, the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, represented by Mrs. Amaka Nwaora, lauded the company’s contribution to national nutrition and development.
“Nutrition is not just about food. It is about health, productivity, and national growth,” Nwaora said. “Nestlé’s initiatives, from nutrition education to sustainable farming support, help Nigerians live healthier, more productive lives.”
Also, Director, Department of Industrial Development, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Mohammed Bala, represented by Mrs. Esther Popoola, endorsed the campaign as aligned with the government’s Industrial Transformation Agenda.
“This initiative reflects a strong commitment to responsible business practices and sustainable development. The private sector plays a key role in innovation, job creation, and boosting Nigeria’s economy,” Bala said.
Nestlé Nigeria has been part of Nigerian households for more than six decades, and through initiatives such as “Nestlé for Good,” the company seeks to deepen its impact on nutrition, community development, and environmental sustainability, while fostering partnerships that ensure long-term growth and social progress.
