Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Sunday, joined family members, friends and well-wishers of his 2015 Campaign Director General, Chief Ahamdi Nweke, at a thanksgiving service celebrating his recovery from a life-threatening illness after a surgical procedure that lasted more than six hours.

The thanksgiving service, held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Umuhie in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, drew prominent government officials, members of the judiciary and political associates.

Speaking during the service, Governor Otti expressed gratitude to God for sparing Nweke’s life and seeing him through the complex surgery.

The governor commended his former Campaign DG for returning to give thanks to God after overcoming a major health challenge, noting that many people often forget to show gratitude after receiving divine intervention.

Nweke served as Director-General of Otti’s governorship campaign in the 2015 election and was also the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the Abia Central Senatorial District in the same election cycle.

In his remarks, Nweke thanked the governor for attending the thanksgiving despite his busy schedule, describing Otti as “God’s appointed governor.”

He also praised the governor’s ongoing reforms across the state, expressing confidence that the institutional changes being implemented would outlive the administration and make it difficult for future leaders to reverse them.

The event was attended by top officials, including the Chief Judge of Abia State, Lilian Abai, who led other judges of the Abia State High Court to the service.
