Borno: 3,300 households receives Rep’s palliatives in Askira-Uba/ Hawul LGs

Atleast 3,300 heads of households, mostly the vulnerable ones in Askira-Uba and Hawul Federal Constituency of Borno state have received palliatives which comprised of bags of rice and other food condiments procured by their House of Representatives member at the national Assembly, Hon. Dr. Usman Midala Balami.

The exercise began in Askira-Uba Local Government Area which was flagged off by his representatives, including his Senior Legislative Aide (SLA) Hon. Medugu Yawal and the Deputy Chairman of the Council, Hon. Bilyaminu, who represented the executive Chairman, Hon. Mada Saidu, alongside party officials.

The distribution continued on Wednesday 11th March, 2026 in Hawul LGA, where the Executive Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Mamman Mshelizah, together with Dr. Midala’s Senior Aide, Hon. Yusuf Kumpter, the LGA Party Chairman, Hon. Yahaya Gerha, and other stakeholders supervised the exercise.

As the distribution extended to the beneficiaries in Hawul on Wednesday, Hon. Balami, represented by his Senior Aide Hon. Kumpyer said the gesture aims to cushion the economic hardships, mostly faced by heads of households and the vulnerable groups across the constituency.

He added that the gesture was borne out of the Lawmaker’s desire for the people to fulfill their spiritual obligations during the holy month, adding that the distribution followed guidance of his Excellency, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in ensuring it reaches the beneficiaries.

Dr. Balami assured the people of his committment to their welfare irrespective of political, ethnic or religious background.
“As you can see, this palliative is for everyone irrespective of your background.

“These palliatives were distributed ward by ward based on polling units to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries”. He said.

Dr. Balami, according to his Aide remained consistent in supporting his constituents during both Christian and Islamic festive periods through fertilizer distribution, palliatives, economic empowerment programmes, and other legislative interventions.

Beneficiaries reaffirmed his slogan, “The People’s Mandate,” and pledged their continued support.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Executive Chairman of Hawul local government area, Hon. Yusuf Mamman Msheliza commended Hon. Balami for the gesture, which he noted, would complement efforts of Governor Babagana Zulum in providing dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

He further extend his gratitude to the beneficiaries for their peaceful conduct during the exercise, and urged them not to sell the items, but to use it for the purpose intended.

He called on the constituents to use the period to pray for Allah (God) Almighty to bring lasting peace not only in Borno, but the country as a whole.
