In a landmark demonstration of interfaith unity, the Annual Ramadan Lecture organised by Prince Amb. (Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla in Abule Egba, Lagos, witnessed both a Muslim cleric and a Christian pastor delivering lectures on the same platform — a first in the programme’s history.
Themed “Impact of Religion and Economic Development in Society,” the event focused on the role of faith in shaping values that drive national growth and sustainable development. It was held at Awori Bus Stop under the auspices of ADEDAS, reflecting Prince Ewenla’s longstanding commitment to religious harmony, moral consciousness, and community development.
Prophet Olamilekan Johnson, delivering the first lecture, emphasized that Nigerians, regardless of religious differences, ultimately serve the same God. In recognition of Prince Ewenla’s support, he formally acknowledged him as Baba Ijo (Father of the Church) of CCC Graceland Cathedral Mount Zion.
Prophet Johnson urged citizens to embrace discipline, integrity, and productivity, stressing that economic development cannot thrive without strong moral values. In a symbolic gesture of interfaith solidarity, he donated a Muslim kettle to support ablution needs during prayers, drawing applause from attendees.
The second lecture was delivered by Fadheelat Sheikh Abdul Fatai Muh Raji Athaqofy, known as Baba Ni Mushin, who reinforced the message of peaceful coexistence and interfaith collaboration. He called on religious leaders to use faith teachings to promote moral discipline, social responsibility, and national progress.
The event attracted religious leaders, traditional representatives, community leaders, business personalities, and well-wishers from across Lagos State. Observers noted that the joint lecture during Ramadan fasting symbolized mutual understanding and strengthened interfaith cooperation in the community.
Prince Ewenla, who also spoke at the event, encouraged attendees to embrace the teachings of Ramadan beyond the holy month, highlighting the importance of generosity, integrity, compassion, and responsible leadership. He called for increased support for education, youth empowerment, and social welfare initiatives, emphasizing that sustainable development requires active contributions from individuals, organizations, and leaders.
The lecture concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Lagos State and Nigeria, alongside networking sessions and goodwill messages. Attendees commended Prince Ewenla for his vision, generosity, and commitment to fostering religious enlightenment, moral reflection, and community development.
The 2026 ADEDAS Ramadan Lecture not only offered spiritual enrichment but also set a historic precedent for interfaith dialogue, demonstrating how religious leaders can collaborate to promote unity, tolerance, and shared responsibility for nation-building.
